Town  Criers have been around for centuries . The Englsih have continued to carry the tradition to this modern day and there are many Town Criers across the globe who have been appointed by their respective municipalities  and  who are engaged in promotng tourism. MOst of these  Town Criers are supported by their own money and their own time to promote their communities , thus when invirted to competitions they provide their own transportation. The service  which Town Criers  provide to thier communities is priceless. They draw attention to communities which  do not have major sports franchises or other large entertainment venues which draw people to enjoy those communities, thus Town Criers  provide a wonderful way for those municpalties to have a tourist attraction , through the Art of Town Crying and especially the Town Crier Competition
